Alongside the guiding principles we build by, Privy has 4 core values. These are the values we strive to live by as we work daily. They push us as individuals and inform what we value as an organization (in fact we celebrate a teammate who best embodied a value each week—along with a cringe photoshop of them). Some come easier than others, but all push us to strive toward greater impact.

Our values

All engineering at Privy is security engineering.

All engineering at Privy is product engineering.

Drive impact by usage. Bake that bread.

We bring about our vision through usage today – this means we solve real problems for developers. We have conviction in our mission, but we ground our work in tangible results.

Commit to the experiment. Jeff Bezos 2016.

We make mistakes and iterate quickly. We are decisive in uncertainty. We ship MVPs to learn and get feedback fast. We scope problems clearly, define our hypothesis, and know what success is.

Focus. Pressure = Force/Area.

We wake up with one goal. Our experiments drive towards a shared North Star.

Scope, speed, quality—pick 2. We always cut scope. We prefer to do fewer things well, cutting distractions and context-switching. We are steady: competitor-aware, not competitor-obsessed; user-obsessed, not market-reactive.

Be an owner. I make fetch happen.

Privy is not the same without me. I take initiative and push things through to completion. I commit to the team’s decisions and trust my teammates to own their work. I give real feedback. I am always kind, but not necessarily nice. I act with conviction even when that means foregoing consensus.
