Today, we are thrilled to support the Farcaster team with their Warpcast embedded wallet launch, a massive milestone on their journey bringing novel experiences to the social layer of the internet.
Since starting Privy, we’ve long admired Dan, Varun, and the rest of the incredible team they have put together. Through their vision for a sufficiently decentralized social network, Farcaster has been building the Farcaster protocol and Warpcast product alongside one another. This relentless focus on bringing the protocol to life through real usage mirrors much of how we think about product development at Privy: cryptography in service of utility. With their relentless experimentation, commitment to craft and first principled thinking, we couldn’t be prouder to partner with this amazing team in building something new on the Internet.
With this launch, the Farcaster team has done three key things:
Significantly reduce the friction needed to interact with any and all applications in the app: through frames and embedded wallets, getting rich experiences in app becomes possible.
Bring the massive benefits we get from Farcaster–like cross-app composability and seamless payments– to anyone with the Warpcast app.
Open up the design space for a Farcaster ecosystem SDK whereby the Farcaster social graph now ships with a built in settlement layer.

What is Farcaster?
Farcaster is a sufficiently decentralized social protocol purpose-built to help developers build and distribute apps. Anyone can show up and build on the protocol’s underlying data (social graph, posts, engagements) generated via Farcaster apps like Warpcast, Super, Bountycaster, and Recaster.
Apps built on Farcaster get massive benefits out of the box:
Bootstrapped social graph: When your users sign in with Farcaster, you can automatically pull all of their existing connections from the protocol. This means bypassing the cold start problem if you are building new consumer products by bootstrapping a rich social experience from day 1. Rodeo is an incredible example, where users get a rich content feed based on their followers as soon as they connect Farcaster.
Cross-app sync with a shared feed: When users take actions in your app, you can automatically have those actions generate posts on the Farcaster feed. Drakula is a great example of a team who leveraged this feature to drive growth: every time a user shared a video to the app, it generated a post on the Farcaster feed - driving hundreds of thousands of users to discover and start using the app.
Distribution via frames: Frames allow developers to surface full webview versions of their app from directly within the feed, making the Warpcast app effectively an app store for users to discover and launch apps built on Farcaster.
What do embedded wallets in Warpcast mean?
Today’s embedded wallet launch is a massive step to make all of these benefits accessible to everyone, crypto newcomers and natives alike.
Historically, any onchain interaction in Warpcast meant having to connect your external wallet to transact, from sending a payment to a friend to purchasing an asset from a frame. Starting today, every Warpcast user automatically gets a fully-functional wallet in-app, allowing users to receive assets and transact, without leaving the Warpcast app.
This unlocks in-app interactions like:
Global frames wallet, that automatically comes pre-funded with existing onchain history across all frame app experiences you launch in the feed.
An embedded trading experience, allowing Farcaster users to receive onchain rewards in a consolidated source, from which they can swap to any asset they’d like.
In-app payments, enabling everything from a Venmo alternative to tipping users for quality content.
Notably, today’s embedded wallet launch is a big step toward making everything about the Farcaster experience seamless for people who are new to crypto.
