My first “oh wow” crypto moment came after I purchased an artwork called “Second Breakfast” on Foundation (shout out to the great Hemisveer). With my purchase complete, I logged in to OpenSea and there it was: the same asset in both places. This artwork was not just secured by keys I controlled, but available to me wherever I went on the web. I truly owned it. This is the power of interoperability.

We launched Privy’s embedded wallets on a per-app basis to focus on the UX of self-custody, enabling smoother flows for all users coming onchain. Today, we open up the system with cross app wallets. This means:

  • Teams can make embedded wallets created in their app available to any other app.

  • Developers can ask a user to connect their embedded wallet from another app with just a few lines of code.

Cross-app wallets will enable teams to bring one of crypto's most powerful features—interoperability—to mainstream audiences. This means serendipitous onchain rewards, powerful token-gating, and more. They are built with user security in mind: users must consent to every cross-app action they take. You can read more about how they work here.

We are proud to launch with five available providers you can integrate on day one, with more integrating every day:

  • Zora

  • OpenSea

  • Fantasy

  • Icebreaker

  • Adimverse

You’ll notice these connections are app-to-app at launch. This means a requester app must choose which provider to integrate with. This is a deliberate design decision we made to prioritize high-intent connections between two apps, ahead of launching a more global version of the system.

You can start integrating cross-app wallets from your dashboard today. Head there to see the available apps you can integrate with, and head to the docs to see how. Try out cross-app wallets for yourself at demo.privy.io.

This is just the start. In the coming weeks, look out for a guide on how to integrate embedded wallets into your RainbowKit (or your favorite) connector library.

We couldn't be more excited to open up this new design space for builders working onchain, and users the worldover.

We can't wait to see what you build!

Team Privy
